In Snow, Ka is a poet who returns to Turkey after 10 years in Frankfurt. He goes to the northeastern city of Kars, to report on recent suicides among girls there and to look up an old classmate now separated from her husband. Kars is a town caught in the increasing controversy between secularists and Islamists, and has a newspaper which reports the news of the next day. Ka meets an infamous terrorist, witnesses an assassination, and yet at the same time, finds himself reinvigorated as a man and a poet. While the town in snowbound, a theater production becomes a military coup. When Orhan Pamuk's novel was released in his native Turkey, it angered both Westernised Turks and Islamists alike. Snow has received many positive and glowing reviews with The Telegraph saying, "The author's high artistry and fierce politics take our minds further into the age's crisis than any commentator could, and convince us of every character's intensity, making Snow a vital book in both senses of the word."
He is one of my favorite novelist.
